At Steel Laboratorio Metallurgico (Materials Testing Laboratory), qualified expert professionals perform mechanical, chemical, metallographic and failure analysis tests, using state-of-the-art tools. The laboratory also carries out all the activities required for the characterization of materials and products, operating in compliance with the standard ISO/IEC 17025 (*) for the accreditation of testing laboratories. The laboratory, used by the companies in the Group and by external companies, also provides its assistance and expertise for the control and improvement of heat treatment processes performed by Steel Group.
One of the most recently acquired tools is a new spectrometer for chemical analysis, which can also detect the presence of nitrogen, an alloying element used increasingly in latest-generation steel.
