In the catalog the brand new Skolvar super resistant steel and the Vidar line of high-performance steels signed Uddeholm
Uddeholm launches Skolvar, a new extraordinarily high-performance hot-work steel that we are immediately making available to our customers.
In Norse mythology Skol is the wolf who chases the sun in the sky and to do so he must be able to resist its immense heat. From the name it is therefore clear that Skolvar is a steel capable of withstanding extreme heat in an excellent way. However, its qualities do not end there: thanks to the presence of MC-type vanadium in its composition, it also resists abrasive wear incredibly well. All this while keeping its hardness and durability intact.
Made with ESR technology, i.e., remelted under electroslag for the benefit of purity and structural homogeneity, essential prerogatives to offer maximum performance in application, Skolvar has been developed to comply with the strictest standards in terms of quality. Thanks to its exceptional resistance not only to wear and heat, but also to tempering, it is the ideal solution for many hot processes adopted in various sectors, including automotive, aerospace, energy and medical.
The news, however, does not end there. In fact, the range of our proposals has been enriched with other particularly high-performance steels, also signed by Uddeholm.
We are talking about Vidar Supreme and Vidar Superior, steels that stand out for their toughness and heat resistance (in particular Superior), hardness, microstructure, hardenability and polishability. Both are remelted under electroslag and subjected to all Uddeholm high quality processes for die casting. Combining them with the exclusive Dievar, suitable for countless hot applications, including the aforementioned die casting, forging and extrusion, and with the widely tested Orvar Supreme, the range of steels designed to offer the best to those working in the aluminum die casting sector is completed.
To these we can add, Vidar 1, intended mainly for hot forging and aluminum extrusion, and Vidar 1 ESR (remelted under electroslag), especially suitable for molds for plastics and those for hot applications where no special certifications are required. Both undergo the same heat treatment as Vidar Supreme.
