Vacuum quenching and tempering is the hardening of steel by means of quenching followed by one or more temperings with the purpose to obtain the mechanical features requested. Particularly, the process has the purpose to provide the desired hardness of steel.
Vacuum quenching and tempering can be applied to all types of tool steel, constructional steel, low alloy steel and alloyed steels, whose quenchability is compatible with pressurized nitrogen cooling. Mainly the process can be applied to all steel products for hot work, cold work, plastic moulding applications and to tooling in general.
