Particularly suitable for the applications where maximum dimensional stability is required (least deformations of the treated pieces), the cryogenic (or "subzero") treatment allows toll steels to reach the maximum hardness with consequent increase of the wear resistance.
Furthermore, increased microstructural stability allows to reduce the risk of burn marks and cracks during surface finishing.
